The wine region of Northern Rivers is located in the region of Nouvelle-Galles du Sud of Australia. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Cassegrain or the Domaine Bago Vineyards produce mainly wines red and white. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Northern Rivers are Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. We currently count 3 estates and châteaux in the of Northern Rivers, producing 3 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture.
The wines of Northern Rivers go well with generally quite well with dishes of pork, game (deer, venison) or shellfish.
Emmanuelle Verset is the sixth generation to make wine in her family, and represents the E in Domaine A&E Verset. The A is for Alain, her father. The US still comes top on the list of which countries drink the most wine overall, according to to preliminary figures released this week by the International Organisation of Vine & Wine (OIV). Wine consumption in the US crept up by 0.7% in 2021, to 33.1 million hectolitres (3.31 billion litres), the OIV said in a report on the state of the industry.
